A Case Study: About

A client named Ben, came to us asking for help with his start-up company's website copy and content - he had a viable niche product, a small customer base and industry knowledge, but he was struggling to accrue new sales. In other words, his sales were only coming from word of mouth and absolutely no sales were coming to fruition from his website AT ALL.

First we helped Ben identify his clientelle - that incidentally included a number of industry sectors that were unexplored. Then we persuaded him to concentrate on a national audience.

Next we worked closely with Ben to define the company’s services and identify key product details like environmental impact that would encourage a potential client to want to work with Ben.

For the: About Me section, we developed a story about Ben that highlighted his expertise and personality.

From there we worked with the designer and organised the core content of the website so that there was a clear user journey that streamlined Ben’s brand objective. And finally, we sharpened and rewrote Ben’s website copy, giving it a strong, capable, but youthful voice, with an approachable ‘energy’.

Idiom sourced and recommended a local (to Ben) website builder, then Ben, Idiom, the designer and the website architects, worked together as a team throughout the final stages of the project. The result was a comprehensive, professional, on-brand, SEO optimised, pay-per-click site.

We followed up the new branding and website launch with a new business card, a content led brochure, a portfolio for paperwork and sales presentations and about 20 different branded policy and regulatory documents.

What happened next was dramatic - Ben’s company took off.

A Case Study: Services

An editorial update, the stats and the portfolio.

Twenty four months later, Ben called us because his browser retention had drifted. Idiom identified that over time, various tweaks, products and services had been added to the site that meant the website wandered off-brand. It also contained redundant information, misinformation and blaring spelling mistakes. So we did an immediate fine-tooth comb copy edit and branding update.

The results were almost immediate, Ben’s Google ratings and browser retention improved within a few weeks and clients began to pick up the phone.

We advise clients to revisit their branding and website content regularly, so Pontoon Provider is having an MOT and  face-lift following the launch of their new spin-off company: Workboat Provider - we wrote all the content and worked with the designer to develop brand, voice and website compatibility. Watch this space for the new launch early in the New Year - 2022.

Here are the stats:

  • Launch to six months the website averaged 300 clicks per month. From that statistic, 5% of those clicks represent enquires and 2% of clicks equate to actual sales.

  • In four years Ben's turnover has risen 300% with a growing client base.
